Founded in 1931 and still based in Astley Community Park in Seaton Delaval in Northumberland, Astley Park Mens Bowls Club are passionate about lawn bowls.
With a growing membership the club’s committee agreed they needed a website to keep everybody up-to-date with the club’s latest news, events, competition draws and results. The committee were also keen to make it as simple as possible for prospective members to find out more about the club and to get in touch.
Their top priority was user-friendliness, as the majority of the website’s visitors may not be particularly IT savvy and were unlikely to make extensive use of mobile devices. It was also critical that both the committee and a nominated website Administrator could quickly and easily keep the website up-to-date with the latest news and events.
We’ve built a nice new website on our seriously easy to use content management system, allowing the website Administrator to easily publish the club’s latest news, draws and results. Members can add their comments to articles (edited and approved by the Administrator before publication) while prospective members can read up on the club’s facilities and history, and ask a question via the integrated contact form or engage with the club via social media buttons.
Once again our in-house Pro photographer, Laurence Sweeney, did a fantastic job capturing some lovely shots of the club, players and lawns, which were supplemented by some historic black and white photos obtained from the club’s own archives.
Although the website didn’t need to be responsive (as many members don’t yet use mobile smart devices) every website built by Zealous Web Design is designed to be responsive as standard for no extra charge. In this way the club will ensure its website is future-proof and fit for purpose no matter what shape technology takes in the coming years.
